Job Description Bookkeeper / Staff Accountant

A well-established and growing public accounting firm in the Cleveland area is seeking a detail-oriented Bookkeeper / Staff Accountant to join their team. Position Overview
This role is ideal for someone who enjoys working closely with clients, maintaining accurate financial records, and supporting a variety of accounting functions in a fast-paced public accounting environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts for multiple clients
- Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions
- Perform bank and credit card reconciliations
- Assist with month-end and year-end close processes
- Prepare financial statements and supporting schedules
- Support payroll processing and related reporting
- Communicate directly with clients to gather financial data and address inquiries
- Assist with cleanup projects and process improvements
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field preferred (or equivalent experience)
- 2+ years of bookkeeping or accounting experience (public accounting experience is a plus)
- Strong understanding of core accounting principles
- Experience with accounting software (QuickBooks or similar platforms preferred)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Office Suite
- Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
- Excellent communication skills with a client-service mindset
