We are seeking a dependable and hardworking
Trash Truck/ Sanitation Collection Worker
to join our team. This position is responsible for collecting residential and commercial trash throughout the City of West University Place while providing safe, timely and professional service to the community.
Responsibilities
Operate or assist with the operation of a trash collection truck along designated routes.
Collect and remove trash and waste from assigned locations.
Safely load and unload trash and waste materials.
Run or walk alongside the collection truck as needed while completing assigned routes.
Maintain a consistent pace to ensure routes are completed on schedule.
Inspect the truck and equipment before and during each shift and report any issues or safety concerns.
Follow all safety procedures, traffic regulations, and workplace policies.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and collection vehicle.
Work effectively as part of a team to complete daily collection routes.
Provide courteous and professional service to residents and members of the community.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Ability to perform physically demanding work for extended periods.
Ability to walk and run alongside a moving trash collection truck as required.
Ability to repeatedly lift, carry, push, and pull trash containers and materials.
Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
Dependable, punctual, and able to maintain a strong work ethic.
Ability to follow instructions and safety procedures.
Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
Deadline-oriented and able to complete assigned routes efficiently.
Previous experience in sanitation, waste collection, landscaping, construction, delivery, or other physically demanding work is a plus but not required.
Physical Requirements
This is an active, physically demanding position. Employees must be able to:
Walk and run throughout the workday.
Lift and carry heavy trash containers and materials.
Bend, stoop, reach, push, and pull repeatedly.
Work outdoors for extended periods.
Safely perform job duties around heavy vehicles and moving equipment.
